ABS-CBN & GMA-7: Tension gets Hotter!

Wow!

Napa-Wow ako, ang dalawang higanteng TV Networks, ABS-CBN & GMA-7 ay masyado ng mainit! Sa sabi ng AGB Nielsen sa March 4-17 NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement) nangunguna ang ABS-CBN sa buong Pilipinas at nakakuha ito ng warm share na 47% versus sa share ng Siete na 35% lang.

At ang mga commercial ads sa TV dumadami at bumabaha! Hindi pa diyan tapos, ang dalawang networks na ito ay maglalaunch ng mga bagong shows katulad ng Rounin at dami pang iba sa ABS-CBN at Lupin at madami pang iba sa GMA-7.

Pati blogs ng Kapamilya at Kapuso tinambakan ng ratings at ang mga fans ay nagbabatuhan ng WORDS sa forums.

Oh well, abangan nalang ang 'record breaking' na temperature ng dalawang networks na ito.

Mawawala na pala ang S-Files sa ere at papalitan na ito ng Showbiz Central nina John "Sweet" Lapus at Pia Guanio. Goodbye S-Files na nga.

S-Files' final episode will be on April 8, 2007 and Showbiz Central will be airing on the 15th of April after S-Files' farewell on GMA-7.

Embes 1 Hour & 30 Minutes ang running time na eextend pa daw ng 15 minutes sabi ng isang Kapuso at i-adjust daw pabalik ang Telebabad sa maagang oras. At isa daw sa mga dahilan ay:

Charo threatens to resign anew

Word got to us that ABS-CBN executive vice president Charo Santos-Concio threatened to resign again from the network early this week after a reported feud with upper management. It will be remembered that Charo also threatened to leave ABS-CBN two years ago when she had a misunderstanding with former president Cito Alejandro and chairman Gabby Lopez.
Charo’s production subordinates – including her loyalists Deo Endrinal and Enrico Santos, along with five other TV executives – vowed to go with her and resign, too, if ever she decides to leave the network.

This time around, we still do not know the actual reason that made Charo threaten to resign anew.

We heard Charo is eyeing the coveted position to become president of ABS-CBN. Up to this day, however, big boss Gabby Lopez has not appointed her to the said post.

GMA Kapuso Network released the "Mega Manila TV Ratings Data" for 2006 and they shown 'Pinoy Pop Superstar', GMA-7's Singing Contest Show as one of the top-raters in Mega Manila.

But how about the sales of the show? Like albums.

'Pinoy Dream Academy' may not be a consistent rater in Mega Manila but it shown good ratings since it premier in the Nationwide Ratings. As I heard it attain a 30-38% rating for its pilot week. It also shown good competition in the market were all advertisers, businessmen rely on.

So the fact is Pinoy Dream Academy shown good results than Pinoy Pop Superstar and one of the best-sellers are Yeng Constantino's Albums" Hawak Kamay, Salamat & et cetera and got a "PLATINUM." That is why ABS-CBN doesn't worry about PDA's ratings in Mega Manila, because the market is well established than any singing contest.

Angelika dela Cruz joins the cast of 'Pedro Penduko' and also set to star in one of the episodes of ABS-CBN's Sine Serye.





Nagbabagu-bago ang next project ni Angelika dela Cruz for ABS-CBN. Now a regular of the ABS-CBN singing-star search show Little Big Superstar, katatapos lang din ni Angelika ng kaniyang workshop. Papasok din kasi siya sa Pedro Penduko now on its third season.

Hindi na matutuloy ang dapat sana'y sarili niyang Komiks episode with Vhong Navarro, ang Lastikman.

Successful kasi ang Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko ni Matt Evans kung kaya't dagdag nang dagdag ang season nito with new big stars added for every adventure. Hindi na rin matutuloy ang dapat na primetime soap opera ni Angelika dahil malamang daw na ang next project niya ay sa Sine Serye.

Sinimulan ng ABS-CBN ang pre-primetime umbrella project na Sine Serye with Palimos ng Pag-ibig na pinagbibidahan nina Diether Ocampo, Kristine Hermosa, at Rica Peralejo. Susundan ito ng Hiram Na Mukha starring Heart Evangelista and Geoff Eigenmann. Ang magiging ikatlong project ay ang kay Angelika na.

Hindi pa lang alam if it will be a Vilma Santos movie or a Maricel Soriano one—coincidentally, parehong may "langit" ang title.

Kung ang Vilma movie ang gagawin niya, it would be the remake of Kapag Langit ang Humatol. Kung ang kay Marya naman, it would be the remake of Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit. Angelika's Sine Serye project is also the reason kung bakit hindi na niya natanggap ang Lastikman episode ng Komiks dahil magsasapawan ang dalawa. Ang ending, ipinasok na lang din siya sa currently being aired Pedro Penduko.

Evicted!

Mikah Dizon and Jeremy Hidano ended their 5 day stay inside the Big Brother house after the public decided to let Bodie Cruz and Maricris Dizon occupy the last two housemate slots. It was a chance in a lifetime for the four housemate hopefuls but sadly the lass from Baguio and the boy from Japan had to go tonight.
It was a grueling week not only for the four newbies but also for the 12 original housemates. Gee-Ann had to battle her own ghosts plus she and 5 other housemates had to accept Big Brother’s punishment for their violations. Her heart to heart talk with Kuya helped her come to a decision of continuing her stay inside the house. Afterwards she together with Kian, Bruce, Robert, Nel and Jasmin had to play a game of chance to determine which housemate gets an automatic nomination for eviction, a consequence for breaking Big Brother’s house rules. Nel almost broke down when he got a safe smiley card instead of Gee-Ann, who got a danger card with a bullet. Robert and Kian followed suit so the three had to play the next level of the card game. Unfortunately, Kian ended up with the bad luck gun card, which meant he is the first housemate nominated for eviction. It was a secret kept between them Kuya revealed Kian’s fate during the live episode this evening.

After that it was on to presenting the 13th and 14th housemates, with Bodie, Maricris, Mikah and Jeremy tightly holding hands for support. Host Toni Gonzaga finally announced Bodie and Maricris as the winners of the 3-day text voting. Bodie got an overwhelming 39.9% of the votes. Maricris, placing second got 25.08% with Jeremy following closely behind with 24.13% then Mikah with 11.46%. The rest of the housemates had to bid farewell to Mikah and Jeremy, who accepted their fates wholeheartedly. After quick hugs and pats on the back, Jeremy and Mikah left the most famous house in the land with their hearts full of unforgettable memories and experiences. On the other hand, Bodie and Maricris could not believe the results and are very thankful for the people who have supported them. Maricris sat on the sofa, speechless while Bodie got congratulatory remarks from the guys.

A new beginning awaits the two of them as they and the rest of the housemates face the first eviction night tomorrow. Dionne and Zeke, successfully completing Kuya’s secret housemate task got immunity with the right to still vote. Bodie and Maricris, having only stayed inside the house for almost a week also got immunity but they still don’t have the right to vote. However, Kian has an automatic nomination for eviction -- who will join him in the spotlight tomorrow? Don’t miss one of the season’s momentous events tomorrow! GMA-7 to air Pacquiao fight

SOLAR Sports, which paid a whopping P40 million for the TV rights for Manny Pacquiao’s showdown with undefeated but unknown Mexican featherweight Jorge Solis at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will telecast the April 14 fight card on GMA-7. Viva Sports/Standard Today learned that Solar officials had finalized details with officials of GMA Network on Monday and an official announcement is expected within a day or two.

The fight will be replayed on RPN-9, where Solar Sports has a major blocktime agreement.

GMA-7 is locked in a fierce battle for the ratings with the Lopez-owned broadcast giant ABS-CBN, which had previously invested heavily on Pacquiao’s fights, including putting up $4 million for his showdown with Oscar Larios at the Araneta Coliseum last year.

ABS-CBN clearly benefited from a ratings bonanza with their investment in boxing, which apparently caused concern in the GMA-7 ranks, prompting the tie-up with Solar Sports for the Pacquiao-Solis fight. Losing the rights to the Pacquiao-Solis fight to Solar Sports, which also reportedly paid Pacquiao another P20 million for theater, cable and other ancillary rights in the Philippines, was a bitter blow for ABS-CBN, which apparently refused to give into Pacquiao’s demands for a P40-million rights fee.

The fee, according to Pacquiao, would help him in his bid for a congressional seat in South Cotabato.

Although Pacquiao’s lawyer, Franklin “Jing” Gacal, said the report of a P40-million TV rights fee was a mere rumor, Pacquiao’s friend and boxing manager/promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud confirmed the figure in a conversation with Philboxing.com. In another development, Viva Sports/Standard Today was informed that Solar Sports had also acquired the rights for the new season of the Philippine Basketball League, which was previously telecast by ABS-CBN on Studio 23.

The PBL games will be telecast on the Basketball Channel of Solar Sports, which also carries extensive coverage of the National Basketball Association games.

Luzon: ABS-CBN & GMA-7 has a close fight!

Sa mga nakalipas na 'nationwide ratings' na ginawa ng AGB Nielsen, ang ABS-CBN at GMA-7 ay close fight sa Luzon. GMA leads about 2-5% average ratings against rival network, ABS-CBN, and GMA-7 maybe leading again in Metro Manila 'but,' the Kapuso Shows are being pulled down again, the same thing as last year when ABS-CBN's Bituing Walang Ningning took #2 spot in Metro Manila followed by GMA-7's Captain Barbell (#1).

ABS-CBN has 35% versus GMA-7's 38% in Southern Luzon; ABS-CBN has 38% versus GMA-7's 40% in Central Luzon.

GMA Telebabad maybe #1 in Southern, Central, NCR (Metro Manila), Mega Manila (Metro Manila w/ Suburbs) but they garner ratings lower than their ratings in Mega Manila.

Bakekang maybe the #1 drama series in Mega Manila, but it is not the #1 drama nationwide.

A War without an 'Official' Cease Fire

Both ABS-CBN (left), and GMA Network (right) had a network war since the early 1990's. Almost 15 years, these networks haven't stop or had a cease fire on the ratings game. It said that ABS-CBN was closed during the Philippine Martial Law of 1972, ABS-CBN suffered and ranked 5th among the top 5 networks in Metro Manila. Probably the #1 spot was owned by GMA-7 but GMA-7 wasn't #1, it was RPN-9 & Public Televison (also known as PTV Channel 4). RPN and PTV didn't have a war, it was only public service. But when ABS-CBN was officially opened again in year 1986, ABS-CBN started to introduce soap operas, GMA-7 then followed. But when 1990's entered a war of money, ratings, viewers & etc. started. The competition was getting hotter and hotter, hotter than a lava.

But what network is really the #1 Channel? Some say, GMA-7. Yes, GMA-7 is #1 in Mega Manila and ABS-CBN leads in the provinces. No doubt about that one and it was also said by AGB Nielsen Media Research. But in the Philippine TV History Ratings Chart, ABS-CBN and GMA-7 dominates the chart (Oh well, ABS-CBN dominated the #1 spot and the most of the figure). For the Philippine TV Shows Category referring to TELESERIES only, "Esperanza," top-billed by Judy Ann Santos, Wowie de Guzman and Piolo Pascual was the #1 Show in Phil. TV History that registered a dominating rating of 63.5%.

3.) They can be one of the Controversies kung MADADAMAY sila!

Phase 3: Ang dapat gawin ng Eat Bulaga!:
1.) Mag-reformat na, palitan ang ibang portions
2.) Control the hosts
3.) Stop copying the tagline of ABS-CBN's Wowowee (they still copied Wowowee's "BUT" sa nakikita ko sa hosts "may mga plastiks at nahahalata ko")
4.) Make it more ENERGETIC!!!!!
5.) Don't forget the viewers to play your portions not only the hosts (like Wowowee: may... Questune, Willie of Fortune, Pera O Bayong at iba pa at most of all ang mga viewers ang naglalaro!)
