The premiere of FOX's new series "On the Lot" bled a lot of its "American Idol" lead-in Tuesday, allowing ABC to take the overall ratings title for the night.
Led by the "Dancing with the Stars" finale, ABC averaged an 11.8 rating/19 share for the night. FOX came in second with a 9.9/16. CBS, 8.5/13, came in third, with NBC fourth at 5.2/8. The CW was well back with a 1.3/2.

FOX did take the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 6.7 rating. ABC was a solid second at 5.3. There was a steep drop from there to third-place CBS, 2.8, which held off NBC's 2.7. The CW trailed with a 0.8.
The final performances on "American Idol" drew a 14.5/23 at 8 p.m. The season finale of "NCIS" earned an 8.9/14 for CBS. ABC's special "The Bachelor: After the Final Rose" was third at 5.7/9, beating NBC's "Dateline," 4.0/7. "Veronica Mars" was fifth with the first of two episodes on The CW.

The premiere of the filmmaking competition "On the Lot" posted a 5.4/8 for FOX, squandering well over half its lead-in and also falling significantly in its second half-hour. A repeat of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" kept NBC in fourth, while the finale of "Veronica Mars" posted a 1.4/2 for The CW.
"Dancing with the Stars" improved to 15.1/24 at 10 p.m. as Apolo Anton Ohno collected this season's title. CBS' movie scored an 8.1/13, and the season finale of "Law & Order: SVU" came in at 6.9/11.
