1. Breaking buzz
The unavoidable! On its second airing, Showbiz Central’s Mega Manila survey rating nosedived to 8.5 percent, a hefty decrease from the 11.7 percent opening rating. The Buzz, on the other hand, increased from 13.8 percent to 15.2 percent, clearly getting Showbiz Central’s points loss. The Buzz rating is even higher than Startalk’s at 15.1 percent, an unimpressive figure considering it has no direct competitor. Why this slaughter? As Buzzstation pointed out: Showbiz Central offers nothing new except a mishmash format, an ineffective host in Raymond Gutierrez, and the Central Jury concept failing to excite. What do we get? From Showbiz Central: fluff (features on starlets, has-beens and bloated newbits); from The Buzz: compelling news (the Toni Gonzaga accident and the baptism of Jay Manalo’s new child scoops, the inside story about the PDA 6 trouble and the exclusive Kris Aquino interview). With such an imbalance, ratings favored The Buzz that satisfied viewers the most!
With substitute host Ruffa Gutierrez divorcing Ylmaz Bektas, it just about completes the demolish of The Buzz of Showbiz Central. If Ruffa will decide to treat her story as exclusive material for The Buzz, it will give the showbiz-oriented show another explosive story like Kris Aquino has given it 101 explosive and exclusive stories.
