CBS' held strong on Thursday night, easily winning two hours of primetime and averaging a 6.2 rating/11 share for the night among households. FOX was second with a 4.7/8, followed by ABC (2.9/5), NBC (2.5/4) and The CW (1.6/3).
Among 18 to 49-year-olds, it was neck-and-neck with CBS just beating FOX's 2.7/8 with its own 2.7/9. NBC was third with a 1.5/5 to ABC's 1.3/4. All were well ahead of The CW's 0.9/3.
Kail's eviction and Jessica's rise to power on "Big Brother 8" scored a 5.2/9 for CBS at 8 p.m., while the NFL Preseason Game allowed FOX to tie for first. "Ugly Betty" came in third with a 3.0/6 for ABC, while "My Name Is Earl" (3.3/6) and "30 Rock" (2.5/4) averaged a 2.9/5 for NBC. The CW trailed with "Smallville" (1.4/3).
At 9 p.m., CBS had the most-watched show of the night, a "CSI" repeat (6.8/12). FOX slipped to second and ABC stayed in third with "Grey's Anatomy" (3.1/5). NBC served up two more comedies, "The Office" (2.5/5) and "Scrubs" (2.4/4) and The CW explored "Supernatural" (1.4/2).
Ending the night still in first, CBS' "Without a Trace" took only a small dip for a 6.5/12. ABC's "Men in Trees" (2.7/5) secured second and NBC had its worst hour of the night, courtesy of "ER" (1.9/3).
