CBS Unleashes 'Dog' to Win Thursday
New show helps carry Eye to overall title
Fast National ratings for Thursday, July 10, 2008
Americans love their dogs, and apparently a good number of them love TV shows about dogs as well.
Thanks in no small part to "Greatest American Dog," CBS won the night with a 5.5 rating/10 share. FOX took second with a 4.8/9. NBC, 2.9/5, came in third, a little ahead of ABC's 2.7/5. The CW drew a 1.2/2.
FOX grabbed the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 2.5 rating. CBS' 2.0 was good for second -- though that figure presumably doesn't take into account the number canines aged 2 1/2 to 7 who tuned in. NBC, 1.8, took third, followed by ABC, 1.1, and The CW, 0.7.
"Greatest American Dog" debuted to a 6.1/12 at 8 p.m., easily winning the hour for 8 p.m. "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" earned a 4.3/8 for FOX. A repeat of "Last Comic Standing" put NBC in third with a 2.4/5. "Ugly Betty" was fourth for ABC, while "Smallville" delivered a 1.3/2 for The CW.
CBS stayed on top at 9 p.m. with "CSI," 6.6/11. "So You Think You Can Dance" scored a 5.3/9 for FOX. A new "Last Comic Standing," 3.1/5, kept NBC ahead of ABC and "Grey's Anatomy," 2.2/4. The CW held steady with "Supernatural."
At 10 p.m., CBS' "Swingtown" led the hour in households at 3.9/7, although ABC's "Hopkins," 3.8/7, had a few more total viewers. "Last Comic Standing" posted a 3.3/6 for NBC.
