Twenty minutes of the New England Patriots' perfect season was all CBS needed to score a ratings win Sunday night.
CBS averaged an 8.9 rating/14 share for the night (though that number may change some due to live sports creeping into primetime). ABC took second at 7.4/11, followed by NBC at 6.4/10. FOX, 3.8/6, came in fourth, and The CW was just a blip at 0.9/1.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS' 4.1 rating led the way. NBC finished second at 3.8, beating ABC's 3.3. FOX averaged 2.9 and The CW only 0.5.
"Amazing Race" host Phil Keoghan
The end of the Patriots-Pittsburgh Steelers game and "60 Minutes" combined for a 12.9/21 on CBS at 7 p.m. "America's Funniest Home Videos" finished a distant second for ABC at 5.4/9. "Football Night in America" drew a 4.2/7 for NBC. A pair of "King of the Hill" reruns, 2.8/5, put FOX in fourth, beating out "CW Now" and "Aliens in America" on The CW.
CBS held onto the lead at 8 p.m. with "60 Minutes" and "The Amazing Race," which averaged 8.3/12. ABC stayed in second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7.7/12. NBC's "Sunday Night Football" game posted was third. "The Simpsons," 4.5/7, and "King of the Hill," 4.0/6, kept FOX ahead of The CW's "Life Is Wild."
At 9 p.m., the ABC movie "For One More Day" earned an 8.7/13 to take the lead. The Indianapolis Colts-Baltimore Ravens game on NBC delivered a 7.7/11, just beating "The Amazing Race" and "Cold Case" on CBS. A "Family Guy" rerun, 4.6/7, and "American Dad," 4.0/6, kept FOX in fourth. "America's Next Top Model" scored a 1.2/2 for The CW.
"For One More Day" slipped to 7.9/13 at 10 p.m. but still held the lead for ABC. "Cold Case" and "Shark" combined for a 6.8/11 on CBS, while "Sunday Night Football" tumbled to 6.1/10.
