The first elimination in the final rounds of "American Idol" carried FOX to another ratings win Wednesday night.
FOX averaged an 11.2 rating/18 share in primetime, easily beating the 6.6/11 for second-place NBC. CBS, 4.4/7, came in third, a little ahead of ABC's 4.1/7. The CW earned a 1.9/3.
Among adults 18-49, FOX's 7.1 rating was far and away the night's best rating. NBC finished second in the demographic with a 2.6. ABC took third with a 2.1, followed by CBS, 1.8, and The CW, 1.3.
NBC's "Deal or No Deal," 6.7/11, had a narrow lead in households at 8 p.m., but FOX snagged a few more total viewers with "The Moment of Truth" (and the first couple minutes of "Idol"), which drew a 6.6/11. "Wife Swap" scored a 4.0/7 for ABC, beating out "Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part" on CBS. "America's Next Top Model" posted a 2.5/4 for The CW.
"American Idol's" results show scored a 15.7/24 at 9 p.m. NBC got a 5.4/8 from "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," holding off a "Criminal Minds" rerun, 5.1/8, on CBS. ABC fell to fourth with "Supernanny," 4.1/6. The CW aired a repeat of Monday's "Girlicious" (1.3/2).
At 10 p.m., NBC's "Law & Order" easily won the hour with a 7.9/13. A "CSI: NY" repeat, 4.4/7, on CBS beat out ABC's "Men in Trees," 4.1/7, for second.
