Friday Night Split for NBC, CBS
'The Price Is Right' and 'Dateline NBC' are Friday's best
Fast National ratings for Friday, March 7, 2008 (USA).
A strong performance from a primetime airing of "The Price Is Right" gave CBS an overall ratings win on Friday, but NBC's "Dateline" helped push that network to the night's demo title.
Overall, CBS averaged a 5.2 rating/9 share, narrowly beating the 5.0/9 for NBC. FOX was third with a 4.4/8 and ABC's 3.8/7 followed. The CW was a respectable fifth with a 2.8/5.
Among adults 18-49, though, NBC's 2.2 rating was enough to sneak ahead of the 2.1 rating for CBS and FOX's 2.0 rating in the all-important demographic. ABC's 1.6 rating nipped the 1.5 rating for The CW.
At 8 p.m., CBS got a 6.4/11 from "The Price Is Right," leaving the competition in the dust. FOX was second with a 4.3/7 for an encore of "Bones," while NBC's "Amne$ia" was third with a 3.1/5. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" repeat barely held off the 2.7/5 for The CW's "WWE Friday Night SmackDown!."
NBC grabbed first at 9 p.m. with "Dateline" doing a 5.4/9. FOX's repeat of "House" had a 4.6/7, bettering the tally for "Ghost Whisperer" on CBS. ABC's "20/20" had a 3.9/6 for fourth, while the wrestling on The CW remained stable.
"Dateline NBC" improved to a 6.4/11 in the 10 p.m. hour. ABC's "20/20" improved to a 4.8/8, slipping just ahead of CBS' "Num3rs" in total ratings (the CBS procedural beat the ABC newsmagazine in total viewers).
