TNS: Confusing the battle between GMA-7 & ABS-CBN

Let it be known that AGB Nielsen Philippines. & TNS Philippines are the agencies that surveys people to produce ratings.

But as time go by, AGB Nielsen is improving on their commitment as an agency but when TNS came the agency that was hired by both ABS-CBN & GMA-7.

The article released in a local tabloid in Metro Manila about TNS. One of the sentences I "Tried" to remembered are:

"51% of households in the Philippines are in Mega Manila Area."
"74% of households in the Philippines are in Luzon in which The Kapuso Network leads."
"26% of households are divided by Vis-Min (Visayas & Mindanao)"

So what?

If 74% is the whole Luzon then 51% in Mega Manila. The equation is/are:

1.) 74% (Luzon) - 51% (Mega M.) = 23%

So therefore, 23% is a percentage which includes the whole the Luzon (only) and excluding Mega Manila.

But regarding the sentence:

"74% of households in the Philippines are in Luzon in which The Kapuso Network leads."

Not all of the 74% belongs to GMA Network. ABS-CBN has also a fair share & not all people in Luzon watch GMA Shows.


In Vis-Min most of the people watch ABS-CBN Programs. For the 26%, GMA-7 can only manage about 8% out of 26% and the rest belongs to ABS-CBN.

Luzon has the largest TV Population.

Is AGB Nielsen & TNS counting the TV Sets or the People Meters, TV Meters and what so ever?

I think they only counted the People Meters etc. etc. As far as I know, did AGB & TNS had a census in which they are counting TV Sets?



But the only advise I could give to these agencies is:

-Why not "DISTRIBUTE" & "EQUALIZE" the People Meters, TV Meters etc. Let us say:
33% for Luzon, 33% for Visayas & 33% for Mindanao.

I am only referring to TV Sets Population not the 'population of the Philippines'.
