International Television: FOX' "House" returns with all new episodes

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 (USA)

The first new episode of "House" in two months helped FOX score a big ratings win Tuesday night. "American Idol" didn't hurt either.

FOX averaged a 14.3 rating/21 share for the night, more than doubling the total of its closest competitor. CBS, 6.0/9, was the best of the rest, with NBC not far behind at 5.7/9. ABC drew a 3.3/5 to finish fourth, and The CW came in at 1.5/2.

Among adults 18-49, FOX's 9.8 rating beat the combined total of the other four nets. NBC finished a distant second at 3.2. CBS, 2.0, took third, followed by ABC, 1.4, and The CW, 0.9.

Hugh Laurie of "House"

"American Idol's" fifth audition episode posted a 15.7/24 for FOX at 8 p.m. An "NCIS" rerun on CBS grabbed second with a 7.7/12. "The Biggest Loser," 4.5/7, was third for NBC, while two episodes of "Just for Laughs" averaged 3.3/5 on ABC. The CW went with a "Reaper" repeat.

"House" kept FOX in the lead at 9 p.m. with a 12.9/19. "The Biggest Loser," 6.2/9, moved NBC up to second, passing a repeat of "The Unit" on CBS. "According to Jim," 3.7/6, and "Carpoolers," 2.6/4, kept ABC in fourth. "One Tree Hill" scored a 1.9/3 for The CW.

NBC assumed the top spot at 10 p.m. with a rerun of "Law & Order: SVU," 6.3/11. CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" earned a 5.6/9, and a "Boston Legal" rerun on ABC trailed at 3.5/6.

Mega Manila TV Ratings: January 25-28, 2008 (Friday-Monday)

UPDATED! [Mega Manila] TV Ratings (Jan. 25-28): Good start for three new ABS-CBN primetime shows

Erwin Santiago

Tuesday, January 29, 2008
01:21 PM

ABS-CBN launched three new primetime programs last night, January 28, to kick off their 55th anniversary celebration. These new programs are Kung Fu Kids, Lobo, and Palos. Although the numbers that these three ABS-CBN programs got based on the overnight ratings of AGB are quite high, they still failed to beat the strong lineup of existing GMA-7 primetime shows.

Among the three shows, Lobo topbilled by the tandem of Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin had the best pilot showing with 27.7 percent, which is also the highest overall among ABS-CBN programs last night. Lobo finished at No. 6 while its direct competitor from GMA-7, Kamandag (starring Angel's former screen partner Richard Gutierrez), rated 33.1 percent to grab the second place overall.

The action-packed Kung Fu Kids, headlined by child stars, came up with 26.6 percent on its pilot episode to place seventh overall. Kung Fu Kids went up against Kapuso network's metal hero series Zaido, which crunched 28.9 percent rating to nab the fifth spot.

Finally, the tandem of Cesar Montano and Jake Cuenca in Palos attracted 23.6 percent to take the No. 8 position. Palos had the unfortunate position of going up against the current No. 1 show, Marimar, which stood its ground by posting a 36.8 percent rating to retain its position.

Completing the Top 10 primetime programs were Coffee Prince (31.2 percent) at No. 3; 24 Oras (30.5 percent) at No. 4; TV Patrol World (23 percent) at No. 9; and Kung Ako Ikaw (14.8 percent) at No. 10. Maging Sino Ka Man just missed the winning circle with its 13.3 percent rating.

In the daytime race, Eat Bulaga! and Daisy Siete tied at No. 1 with identical 22.8 percent rating. The new Japanese drama series Hana Yori Dango 2 premiered at second place with 18.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the last episodes of ABS-CBN's Lastikman and Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara last Friday, January 25, also got impressive numbers. Lastikman placed fourth overall with 30.7 percent while Patayin Sa Sindak followed at No. 5 with 28.3 percent.

Marimar was still on top with 37 percent with Coffee Prince a far second with 32.3 percent; closely followed by Kamandag with 32.2 percent.

GMA-7's game show, Whammy! Push Your Luck, also had its final episode last Friday. It posted a rating of 15.5 percent to grab the fifth spot in the daytime race, behind Daisy Siete (23.8 percent), Eat Bulaga! (20.5 percent), Maging Akin Ka Lamang (17.4 percent), and My Only Love (15.7 percent).

The TV version of Ai-Ai delas Alas's hit movie, Volta, premiered last Saturday, January 26, with 20.1 percent to grab the second spot in the daytime race behind Eat Bulaga's 26.7 percent.

In the primetime race, Bitoy's Funniest Videos once again ruled the lot with 34.8 percent; followed by Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (33.1 percent), Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5? (26.8 percent); Imbestigador (25.9 percent); and 1 vs. 100 (19.7 percent) to complete the Top 5.

ABS-CBN's primer on their three new primetime programs—Kung Fu Kids, Lobo, and Palos—placed sixth with 17.9 percent.

SOP, in the meantime, took the lead among daytime programs last Sunday, January 27 with 18.8 percent. It was followed by the rerun of GMA Films' Lovestruck with 17.9 percent. Showbiz Central ruled the battle of Sunday showbiz talks shows with 15.8 percent to take the third spot versus The Buzz's 11 percent at No. 6.

Finally, the primetime race was won again by Kap's Amazing Stories with 28 percent while Mel & Joey came in second with 27.1 percent.

International Television: Pres. Bush's "State of the Union Address" gives ABC the win for Monday night.

Fast National ratings for Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 (USA)

All the Big Four networks broadcast the State of the Union address Monday, leading to a tightly bunched ratings race.

ABC ended the night on top with a 4.7 rating/7 share. CBS finished second in households with a 4.6/7, although NBC, 4.3/7, had a few more viewers. FOX drew a 3.2/5 (numbers for all four networks could change some because of the live telecast). The CW, which did not cover the presidential address, came in at 1.2/2.

NBC led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.5 rating. CBS took second at 2.2. ABC, 1.9, edged FOX, 1.8, for third, and The CW trailed with a 0.7.

"ABC World News" anchor Charles Gibson

ABC's "Dance War" won the 8 p.m. hour with a 6.2/10. Reruns of "How I Met Your Mother," 5.0/8, and "Two and a Half Men," 6.3/10, put CBS in second. "American Gladiators" dropped off a bit from its past performance, earning a 4.9/8 for NBC. FOX got a 3.8/6 from a "Sarah Connor Chronicles" rerun. The CW went with a "Gossip Girl" repeat.

At 9 p.m., ABC (4.7/7) and NBC (4.5/7) finished in a virtual tie among total viewers with their State of the Union coverage. CBS also pulled down a 4.5/7 in households but drew not quite as many viewers. FOX came in fourth for the hour, while more "Gossip Girl" and "Aliens in America" averaged 1.3/2 for The CW.

CBS led at 10 p.m. with State of the Union analysis, 3.9/6, and "Rules of Engagement," 3.4/6. NBC News coverage and "The Office" averaged 3.3/6, while ABC drew a 3.1/5 with its analysis and a "Samantha Who" rerun.

U.S. President George W. Bush's "State of the Union Address" TV Ratings: BEST BETS

The four (4) major TV networks will be airing "The State of the Union Address" (unfortunately, The CW will not be airing that thing, instead they will be airing "Gossip Girl Revealed"). My Best bets on what network can win the ratings war are the following in terms of the address of Bush's speech:

CBS - Has a big chance of winning since it dominated some days of the week by offering reruns/repeats and audience tuning in on CBS. And The Eye is most likely to maintain its audience. But also it has a huge chance of losing the #1 spot for the night because the controversial "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric"

ABC - Since being neck-to-neck with its newscast "ABC World News" against "NBC Nightly News" in the ratings and viewers, ABC has a big chance (also) of winning the special coverage since it is also the "most credible news" on Broadcast TV (not cable). And it also airs "Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann" on the usual timeslot that is been emptied because of the address.

NBC - "NBC Nightly News" audience can tune in. And has a big chance of winning not only because it shares the #1 spot (for Broadcast TV's #1 Newscast) with "ABC World News" because it also airs "American Gladiator" on the usual time that is been preempted because of the address from Pres. Bush.

FOX - FOX doesn't air a national newscast but this showing of the address from FOX is more likely to lose than CBS. It doesn't mean I hate FOX, its just LUCK that FOX will win the ratings.

Exclusion:

The CW - Has big chance of being steam-rolled by the 'Big 4' (as usual). A "Gossip Girl Revealed" will air (most likely to get a 0.7 to 1.2 household rating). The special is about behind the scenes of "Gossip Girl."

WWE Royal Rumble 2008 Results: SmackDown! Main Event: Edge retains against Rey Mysterio.

NEW YORK – The family that stays together – and cheats together – once again won together at Royal Rumble. SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero’s involvement enabled Edge to defeat Rey Mysterio and escape Madison Square Garden with the World Heavyweight Title still slung over his fortunate shoulder.

The Big Apple got a taste of rottenness to its core, care of the Rated-R Superstar and his “opportunistic” (or underhanded) victory in the World’s Most Famous Arena. Supported at ringside by Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins and his General Manager main squeeze, Edge could barely withstand the torrent of high-impact offensive attacks from his opponent.

Mysterio – who looked to make this Rumble as successful as it was for him in 2006 – took the fight to the champion and came within inches of seizing the gold on several occasions. The overwhelming odds stacked by the Ultimate Opportunist and his clan were further balanced when referee Mickie Henson ejected Ryder and Hawkins from the arena.

Just when it appeared that the Master of the 619 might reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship, the “Guerrero family’s” most influential member inserted herself in the match and interrupted Mysterio’s attempted pinfall. Seconds later, Vickie – up from her wheelchair – received a 619 from the challenger. This distraction, however, enabled Edge to prepare for Mysterio’s West Coast Pop from the ring apron and land a perfectly planted spear directly into the masked Superstar’s abdomen, for the win.

The Rated-R Superstar’s triumph was undoubtedly attributed to his family and though Edge’s injured lover didn’t leave New York City celebrating, the championship remained in the family.

WWE Royal Rumble 2008 Results: John Cena (RAW) wins Rumble (This SUCKS!)

Results:
Next stop: Orlando
By Louie Dee
January 27, 2008

NEW YORK – John Cena is back, and after a quick stop on Broadway for Royal Rumble, “The Champ’s” return tour is headed to the grandest stage in sports-entertainment.

As far as anyone knew, Cena was expected to be out of action for a while – perhaps as long as a year – after tearing his pectoral muscle less than four months ago. Yet after shocking our fans worldwide by entering the Royal Rumble Match at No. 30, Cena whipped the capacity Madison Square Garden crowd into a frenzy when he tossed Triple H over the top rope to win the 2008 Royal Rumble Match. With the victory, Cena earns a World Championship opportunity against the titleholder of his choice at WrestleMania XXIV on Sunday, March 30, in Orlando, Fla.

Of course, with the Royal Rumble being perhaps the most unique match in WWE, there were plenty of surprises and highlights before Cena showed up as the final entrant. For instance, the final two survivors from last year’s Rumble – Undertaker and Shawn Michaels – drew Nos. 1 and 2, making them the first Superstar tandem to finish one Rumble and begin the next. Unlike last year, however, it was HBK who would eliminate The Phenom later on.

The smallest Royal Rumble competitor, Hornswoggle, drew No. 9 … and promptly hid under the ring, only popping out to eliminate The Miz minutes later. When he popped out a second time, however, Mark Henry dragged him into the ring. Finlay came out to protect the leprechaun, but when the Irishman assaulted everyone in the ring with his shillelagh, he was disqualified from the Rumble – unfortunately taking Hornswoggle with him as well.

Two WWE Hall of Famers also shocked the capacity crowd, as Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper entered at Nos. 18 and 19, respectively, to a pair of massive ovations; unfortunately, after a quick flurry that saw them rekindle their 25-year-old rivalry, both legends were dumped by entrant No. 20, Kane.

Finally, after 29 Superstars had entered, three-time former WWE Champion Cena made his way in at No. 30 to a raucous reaction from the MSG crowd. As Cena’s entrance theme played, The Game stared in disbelief at what he saw. Pointing to his repaired right shoulder, Cena shouted “You and me, it’s go time!” to The Game, and the fight was on.

In the end, it came down to three of the biggest and most beloved Superstars in WWE history – Batista, Triple H and Cena. After The Game finally got the best of his former Evolution mate by dumping The Animal, it came down to the two men who met each other for the WWE Title just two WrestleManias ago.

20,798 rabid fans were torn over who to cheer for, and they got their money’s worth from the final two. Just when it looked like The Cerebral Assassin would take Cena down with a Pedigree in the final moments, “The Champ” hoisted The Game on his shoulders and tossed him to the floor, finally winning the Royal Rumble Match and earning the right to face the champion of his choice on March 30.

Cena will be looking to capture some gold in the Sunshine State at WrestleMania XXIV … but which champion will he choose to face? Will he go after the WWE Championship – currently held by Randy Orton – and look to regain the title he never lost in the ring from a man who never beat him for it? Or will Cena look to conquer a different mountain and challenge an old foe, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, or a new kingpin, ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero, for a title he has never worn?

Regardless of whom he chooses to face at WrestleMania XXIV, one fact is certain: “The Champ” is back, he’s better than ever and he’s hungry for gold.

"The Russell Girl" drew an 8.8/14 for CBS at 10 p.m., easily beating NBC's record-breakers, 4.1/7, and a "Brothers & Sisters" rerun, 3.2/5, on ABC.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH BEFORE READING THIS

There was an atheist couple who had a child. The couple never told their daughter anything about the Lord. One night when the little girl was 5 years old, the parents fought with each other and the dad shot the Mom, right in front of the child. Then, the dad shot himself. The little girl watched it all. She then was sent to a foster home. The foster mother was a Christian and took the child to church. On the first day of Sunday School, the foster mother told the teacher that the girl had never heard of Jesus, and to have patience with her. The teac! her held up a picture of Jesus and said, "Does anyone know who this is?" The little girl said, "I do, that's the man who was holding me the night my parents died."

If you believe this little girl is telling the truth that even though she had never heard of Jesus, he still held her the night her parents died, then you will forward this to as many people as you can.

Or you can delete it as if it never touched your heart.

Funny, isn't it?

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and th! en wonder why the world's going to hell.

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. (Or is it scary?)

Funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in God).

Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

! Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely

LOS ANGELES -- Fast National ratings for Friday, Jan. 25, 2007 (USA)

It was hardly a blockbuster night for TV viewership, but a music special and game show helped CBS and NBC grab up what little audience there was on Friday. CBS won the night in households with a 4.8/8, followed by NBC with a 4.5/8. FOX was third with a 4.2/7 while ABC, 3.2/5, and The CW, 2.7/5, lagged behind.

NBC had the advantage among 18 to 49-yeard-olds with 2.1 to FOX's 2.0. CBS came in third with a 1.8 to The CW's 1.4 and ABC's 1.3.

At 8 p.m., NBC started off the night with the highest-rated, most-watched program of the evening, "1 vs. 100," 5.6/10. CBS aired a repeat of "Ghost Whisperer," 4.6/8, while "Bones" rattled up a 3.5/6 in its new Firday night home. A "Grey's Anatomy" repeat put ABC in fourth, while The CW had its usual "WWE Friday Night SmackDown."

CBS moved up to first at 9 p.m. with the special "Garth Brooks: Live in LA," 5.1/8, while FOX rose to second with "House," 4.9/8. A new episode of "Friday Night Lights" only mustered third for NBC, 3.5/6, while The CW's wrestling moved ahead of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" repeat, 2.5/4.

CBS closed out the night at 10 p.m. with a "Numb3rs" repeat, 4.6/8, while NBC rolled the dice with a new episode of "Las Vegas," 4.4/8. ABC got its best numbers of the evening courtesy of "20/20," 4.2/7.

Mega Manila TV Ratings: January 22-24, 2008 (Tuesday - Thursday)

[Mega Manila] TV Ratings (Jan. 22-24): "Coffee Prince" and "Lastikman" moving up
Erwin Santiago

Friday, January 25, 2008
05:51 PM

There are no shocking movements in the ratings game for the last three days, from January 22 to 24. Eat Bulaga! and Daisy Siete are still battling it out for the No. 1 daytime position while Marimar is still untouchable in the primetime race.

The only movement worth mentioning is the continuing rise of GMA-7's Koreanovela Coffee Prince and ABS-CBN's fantaserye Lastikman.

Coffee Prince, which is about a girl who disguises herself as a boy to work in a coffeeshop, placed seventh last Tuesday with 29 percent. But it zoomed to No. 3 the following day, January 23, with 31.7 percent and moved further to No. 2 last night, January 24, with 34.4 percent.

Lastikman, which will have its final episode tonight, January 25, overtook Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara as the top ABS-CBN primetime show. Although the Vhong Navarro-starrer only placed sixth last Tuesday with 29.5 percent behind Barbara's 29.9 percent, it moved to No. 5 Wednesday, January 23, with 28.8 percent. Last night, Lastikman grabbed the fourth spot with 30.4 percent.

The adults 18-49 title also went to FOX, which scored an 8.4 rating in the demographic. NBC finished second at 4.0. CBS, 2.0, took third, followed by ABC, 1.8, and The CW, 1.0.

"Idol's" third audition show drew a 16.2/24 for FOX at 8 p.m. An "NCIS" rerun on CBS earned a 7.9/12. "The Biggest Loser," 4.5/7, put NBC in third, ahead of the 3.1/5 ABC got from an hour of "Just for Laughs." The CW aired a repeat of "Reaper."

FOX held the lead at 9 p.m. with a "House" rerun, 8.5/13. "The Biggest Loser" improved to 6.6/10 in its second hour, moving NBC ahead of CBS and "The Unit." ABC averaged 3.6/5 with "According to Jim" and "Carpoolers," while "One Tree Hill" delivered a 2.0/3 for The CW.

At 10 p.m., NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" posted an 8.5/14 to win the hour. "Boston Legal," 5.5/9, was second for ABC, beating out "48 Hours," 4.8/8, on CBS.

Philippine Showbiz: Actor Wowie de Guzman makes his return via ABS-CBN's "Kung Fu Kids"

Wowie de Guzman makes a comeback via "Kung Fu Kids"

'Tapos nagpakita nga ako, 'tapos yun, hinawakan niya nga ako.'"

Sabi niya, "Of course, pinagsisisihan ko talaga.

REMEMBERING JUDY ANN.

So wala akong problem with Ryan."

LOVING THE THEATER.

Doon sila parang, ‘Paano n'yo nagagawa 'yon?' Kami namang mga artista, ‘Paano n'yo name-memorize, 'yan?' Yun pala one month rehearsal."

So siguro mga first four shows namin, doon ako nagkaroon ng problema.

Yun yung naging bread and butter ko."

BACK TO SHOWBIZ.

So after ko mawala, siyempre financially, naubos na unti-unti. Kapag iku-compare mo ang theater sa TV, malaki ang layo."

Inamin din ni Wowie na baka mag-lie low muna siya sa pag-arte sa entablado at muling mag-focus sa kanyang showbiz career.

Paliwanag niya, "Magla-lie-low muna ako sa theater kasi parang... Kumbaga, sabi kasi ni Tito A, ‘Ano ba?'

[Mega Manila] TV Ratings (Jan. 18-21): "La Vendetta" and "Ysabella" end their run; "Maging Akin Ka Lamang" starts a new one

Two primetime shows ended last Friday, January 18, while a new afternoon soap opened yesterday, January 21.

GMA-7's horror series, La Vendetta, had its final kill last January 18 with a rousing 33.4 percent rating to grab the second place. That same night, ABS-CBN's soap, Ysabella, starring Judy Ann Santos, made its final bow with 22.6 percent to take the No. 10 slot.

Meanwhile, Kapuso network's newest Sine Novela, Maging Akin Ka Lamang, had its impressive debut yesterday, January 21, by virtue of its 21.5 percent rating to take the No. 2 spot, just behind Daisy Siete's 21.7 percent.

Daisy Siete was also the No. 1 daytime show last Friday with 22.1 percent, with Eat Bulaga! and Wheel of Fortune trailing behind at second and third place.

The Friday primetime race was won again by Marimar with 33.8 percent, followed by the last episode of La Vendetta. Rounding up the Top 5 were Kamandag (28.1 percent), Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara (27.7 percent), and Lastikman (27.6 percent).

Zaido (25.7 percent) slipped to No. 8, behind 24 Oras (27.4 percent) and Coffee Prince (26.6 percent).

Eat Bulaga! once again ruled the Saturday daytime race with 25.5 percent while Manny Pacquiao's Pinoy Records was a far second with 20.7 percent. Cinema FPJ was in third place with 18 percent.

Bitoy's Funniest Videos was the No. 1 Saturday primetime show as it gathered 34.7 percent rating with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho a close second with 34.4 percent.

As a temporary replacement to Boys Nxt Door, which ended its run last week, GMA-7 opted to show a rerun of Mulawin: The Movie last Sunday, January 20. The move proved to be effective as the GMA Films movie starring Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin grabbed the top spot in the daytime race with 18.3 percent.

Takeshi's Castle took the second spot with 17.7 percent as SOP and Showbiz Central tied at No. 3 with identical 15.5 percent. Completing the Top 5 were The Buzz (11.7 percent) and ASAP '08 (11.2 percent).

The Sunday primetime race was taken by Paolo Bediones's game show, Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok with 27.9 percent, a slim lead to second placer Kap's Amazing Stories which posted a 27.5 percent rating.

Finally, with the absence of La Vendetta and Ysabella in the primetime slot, GMA-7's reality show Kung Ako Ikaw managed to grab the No. 10 position last night, Jan. 21. Marimar, as usual, took the No. 1 spot.

In the daytime race, Wheel of Fortune slipped to No. 7 after its first week where it held the second and third spots.

International Showbiz: "Dark Knight" and "Brokeback Mountain" Heath Ledger dies

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28.

A large crowd of paparazzi and gawkers began gathering Tuesday evening outside the building on an upscale block in SoHo, where several police officers guarded the door.

The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," where he met
Michelle Williams in 2005. The two had lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year.

[Photo of Heath Ledger on the left, courtesy of Associated Press]

He most recently appeared in "I'm Not There," in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan -- as did
Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.

Ledger was to appear as the Joker this year in "The Dark Knight," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." He's had starring roles in "A Knight's Tale" and "The Patriot," and played the suicidal son of
Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball."

Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.

After several independent films and a starring role in the short-lived Fox TV series "Roar," Ledger moved to Los Angeles and costarred in "10 Things I Hate About You," a teen comedy reworking of "The Taming of the Shrew."

Offers for other teen flicks came his way, but Ledger turned them down, preferring to remain idle than sign on for projects he didn't like.

"It wasn't a hard decision for me," Ledger told the Associated Press in 2001. "It was hard for everyone else around me to understand. Agents were like, 'You're crazy,' my parents were like, 'Come on, you have to eat.'"

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 (USA)

FOX scored the biggest non-Super Bowl audience in some time Sunday, utterly dominating the night with its coverage of the NFC championship game.

The game between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers delivered a huge 26.3 rating/39 share in primetime for FOX, drawing better than 48 million viewers (those numbers may change some due to the live telecast). Among the also-rans, CBS finished second in households at 5.2/8, but ABC, 4.8/7, had a few more total viewers. NBC was fourth at 3.1/5, while The CW recorded a barely-there 0.5/1.

The story was similar among adults 18-49, with FOX drawing an 18.6 rating. ABC finished a very distant second in the demographic at 2.8, followed by CBS, 2.0, and NBC, 1.2. The CW drew a 0.2 (that's not a typo).

FOX NFL Analyst Troy Aikman

FOX got a 26.5/40 from the Giants-Packers contest at 7 p.m. The CBS News special "The Age of Warming" earned a 5.3/8, topping the 3.5/5 for an "America's Funniest Home Videos" repeat on ABC. "Dateline," 3.2/5, put NBC in fourth. The CW went with "CW Now" and an "Aliens in America" rerun.

The Giants-Packers game dipped a little at 8 p.m. but still ruled the hour with a 24.8/36. The finale of "The Amazing Race" scored a 5.8/9 for CBS. ABC was close behind in third with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 5.5/8. "Dateline" improved a little for NBC, while The CW stayed at the bottom with "Life Is Wild."

FOX's ratings peaked at 27.5/39 -- and topped 50 million viewers -- at 9 p.m. as the game went into overtime (the Giants won, 23-20). ABC moved up to second with "EM: Home Edition," 6.9/10. A "Cold Case" rerun on CBS drew a 4.7/7, easily beating the 2.4/3 for a showing of "Runaway Bride" on NBC. The CW aired a "Crowned" repeat.

With the game over, CBS won the 10 p.m. hour with a "Shark" repeat, 5.1/8. ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" rerun posted a 3.2/5, edging the 3.1/5 for "Runaway Bride" on NBC.
