International Television: FOX defeats competitors in 18-49 demo because of cartoons!

CBS rode its old warhorse "60 Minutes" to a narrow ratings win Sunday, while FOX and its various cartoons grabbed the demographic crown.

For the night, CBS averaged a 4.3 rating/8 share among households, finishing just ahead of NBC's 4.1/7. ABC came in third at 3.0/5. FOX, 2.7/5, was fourth, and The CW drew a 0.9/2.

FOX led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.0 rating. CBS and NBC tied for second at 1.6, followed by ABC at 1.4. The CW failed to break 1.0.

CBS got a 5.7/12 -- the night's best rating -- from "60 Minutes" at 7 p.m. An "America's Funniest Home Videos" repeat, 3.2/7, put ABC in second, ahead of NBC's "Dateline." FOX averaged 1.5/3 with "'Til Death" and "King of the Hill," topping the the 1.2/2 for two episodes of "Reba" on The CW.

A second hour of "Dateline," 4.6/8, moved NBC to the lead at 8 p.m. "Big Brother" earned a 4.1/8 for CBS. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" was third for ABC at 3.9/7. "The Simpsons," 3.1/6, and "American Dad," 2.8/5, finished fourth for FOX. The CW aired a "7th Heaven" repeat.

NBC held the lead at 9 p.m. with "Law & Order," 4.5/8. "Cold Case" posted a 4.0/7 for CBS. A pair of "Family Guy" reruns on FOX averaged 3.7/6 (and also drew the night's best 18-49 ratings). ABC's "Desperate Housewives" repeat, 2.5/4, took fourth, while The CW finished its night with "The Search for the Next Doll."

At 10 p.m., "Law & Order: SVU" posted a 4.5/8 to keep NBC in the lead. "Shark" drew a 3.5/6 for CBS, while ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" came in at 2.2/4.
