'Desperate Housewives,' Masters set the pace

Tiger Woods didn't win the Masters Sunday, but he helped CBS stick very close to ABC and the return of "Desperate Housewives" in the ratings.
CBS led the night in households with a 6.9 rating/11 share, edging ABC's 6.5/11, although their total-viewer numbers were virtually identical: 10.46 million for ABC and 10.44 million for CBS. NBC was a distant third at 3.6/6, followed by FOX at 2.9/5. The CW drew a 0.9/1.
ABC grabbed the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 3.5 rating. CBS finished second in the demographic with a 2.7, beating out FOX's 2.4. NBC averaged 1.3 and The CW 0.5.
The conclusion of the Masters golf tournament (and the start of "60 Minutes") averaged 9.1/16 for CBS at 7 p.m. "America's Funniest Home Videos," 4.3/8, put ABC in second. "Dateline NBC" was right behind at 4.2/7. FOX averaged 1.8/3 with repeats of "King of the Hill" and "American Dad." The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" rerun.
CBS stayed in front at 8 p.m. with "60 Minutes," 7.0/11. "Oprah's Big Give" earned a 5.6/9 for ABC. "The Simpsons," 3.8/6, and "King of the Hill," 3.4/5, moved FOX into third, slightly ahead of "Monk," 3.5/6, on NBC. The CW went with "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Aliens in America."
"Desperate Housewives," 10.1/15, won the 9 p.m. hour for ABC and was the night's most-watched show with 16 million viewers. "Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part" scored a 5.7/9 for CBS. FOX averaged 3.5/5 with "Family Guy" and "American Dad." NBC was fourth with "Psych," while "The Game," 1.0/2, and a "Girlfriends" rerun, 0.8/1, closed out the night for The CW.
The "Housewives" lead-in helped a special showing of "Eli Stone" (6.1/10) hold the lead at 10 p.m. "Cold Case" posted a 5.5/9 for CBS, topping the 3.8/6 for "Law & Order: SVU" on NBC.
