Fast National ratings for Sunday, July 13, 2008

The nation once again had better things to do than watch broadcast TV Sunday. CBS rose to the top of a not very big pile to win the night.

CBS averaged a 4.3 rating/8 share in primetime. ABC finished second with a 3.3/6, a little ahead of NBC's 3.0/6. FOX, 2.0/4, was fourth, and The CW managed only a 0.6/1.

Despite finishing fourth overall, FOX led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 1.6 rating. ABC and CBS tied for second at 1.5, with NBC close behind at 1.4. The CW registered a meager 0.3.

CBS' "60 Minutes," 5.6/11, grabbed the night's biggest audience at 7 p.m. "America's Funniest Home Videos" put ABC in second at 3.8/6. A pair of "'Til Death" reruns averaged 1.4/3 for FOX, beating out a Jim Cramer special on NBC. The CW went with a "One Tree Hill" rerun.

The premiere of "Big Brother 10" drew a 4.2/8 at 8 p.m. to keep CBS on top. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 3.3/6, took second for ABC. A rerun of "America's Got Talent" drew a 2.7/5 for NBC, beating the 2.3/4 for " The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" on FOX. Repeats of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Aliens in America" aired on The CW.

At 9 p.m., CBS' "Cold Case," 3.8/6, edged "EM: Home Edition," 3.7/6, for the lead. NBC's broadcast of the Miss Universe pageant, 3.5/6, was close behind. "Family Guy," 2.7/5, and "American Dad," 2.4/4, kept FOX ahead of The CW's repeats of "The Game" and "Girlfriends."

NBC took the lead at 10 p.m. with the Miss Universe broadcast, 4.6/8. A repeat of the "Flashpoint" premiere earned a 3.7/6 for CBS, topping the 2.2/4 for "Desperate Housewives" on ABC.
