CBS, NCAA final beat out ABC, 'Dancing with the Stars'
Fast National ratings for Monday, April 7, 2008
Preliminary ratings for the NCAA basketball title game on CBS went up a little from last year, allowing the network to take Monday night's ratings crown.
CBS averaged a 9.4 rating/14 share in primetime -- up from 8.9/14 for the title-game night last year -- and narrowly beat ABC's 9.3/14 for the lead (figures for CBS will change some because of the live telecast). NBC finished third at 5.3/8. FOX, 4.6/7, came in fourth, and The CW managed only a 0.9/1.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS' 5.4 rating led the way, also a small improvement over last year. ABC took second with a 3.9. NBC, 2.5, came in third, followed by FOX, 2.4, and The CW, 0.5.
"Dancing with the Stars" ruled the 8 p.m. hour for ABC with a 12.3/19. "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" averaged 7.1/11 for CBS. A "House" rerun on FOX scored a 4.4/7. NBC was fourth for the hour with "My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad," 2.7/4, and The CW trailed with a "Gossip Girl" repeat.
ABC held the lead at 9 p.m. with "Dancing with the Stars," 13.6/20, and the return of "Samantha Who?," 7.7/11. CBS' coverage of the NCAA championship game between Kansas and Memphis drew a 10.0/15. "Deal or No Deal," 6.2/9, moved NBC into third, ahead of "New Amsterdam," 4.7/7, on FOX. A "One Tree Hill" rerun finished The CW's night.
The Kansas-Memphis game on CBS improved to 11.0/17 at 10 p.m. NBC's "Medium" posted a better-than-usual 7.0/11, and "The Bachelor: London Calling" averaged 5.0/8 for ABC.
Ratings information is taken from fast national data, which includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change, especially in the case of live telecasts.
