-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS was the most-watched network on this lackluster Friday, while ABC and the CW tied for first among adults 18-49. There is very little of note, unfortunately, when the top-rated network averages a mere 1.3 rating/5 share in the demo.
A repeat of CBS’ Ghost Whisperer kicked-off the evening with 5.06 million viewers (#1) and a 1.0 rating/ 4 share among adults 18-49 (#4) from 8-9 p.m., followed by a double encore dose of Numb3rs as follows:
Numb3rs R (CBS)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.71 million (#1), A18-49: 1.2/ 4 (#2)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.75 million (#1), A18-49: 1.6/ 5 (#1t)
NBC aired two repeat episodes of Most Outrageous Moments (Viewers: #3: avg. 3.93 million; A18-49: #3, avg. 1.1/ 4 from 8-9 p.m.), Dateline (Viewers: #2, 4.25 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.1/ 4) and 10 p.m. special, Tim Russert Tribute (Viewers: #3, 5.10 million; A18-49: #3, 1.2/ 4), who passed away earlier that day of a fatal heart attack. For more on the beloved Mr. Russert, see section Remembering Tim Russert below.
ABC had a typically bland Friday with its combination of a repeat of America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #2, 4.88 million; A18-49: #1: 1.4/ 6), two repeat episodes of the inane According to Jim (Viewers: #5, avg. 3.28 million; A18-49: #3, avg. 1.1/ 4), and veteran 20/20 (Viewers: #2, 5.50 million; A18-49: #1t, 1.6/ 5).
The CW’s soon-to-relocate Friday Night SmackDown! was fourth overall for the evening in total viewers (3.86 million), and tied for first among adults 18-49, with a 1.3/ 5 in the demo. And Fox capped off the evening with repeat theatrical Hollywood Homicide at just 3.49 million viewers and a 0.9/ 3 among adults 18-49 -- last in both categories.
