The first movie Disney.com will stream is Finding Nemo
Disney.com has begun streaming select full-length movies from its vast animation and live action library for one week at a time just after they air on ABC as part of its Wonderful World of Disney franchise.
The new streaming initiative, which will unfold during Wonderful World’s summer run, began with the Oscar-winning Finding Nemo, which is currently available on the site through June 13. That marks the first time that Disney, which has long offered fans access to episodes of its various Disney Channel series on its site, has streamed full length, ad supported movies on the Web.
Other films on the summer slate include Monsters Inc. (coming to the site on June 16 after its June 14 broadcast), the Lindsay Lohan star vehicle Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Princess Diaries 2 and Peter Pan. And besides its theatrical classics, Disney will also stream the upcoming original Disney Channel movie Camp Rock on June 23, just days after its June 20 TV premiere.
Current advertisers for the full length streaming of Nemo include HP and Kraft, which is running video spots and corresponding banner ads for the cereal Cocoa Pebbles.
