FOX topped another fairly quiet Thursday in the ratings, riding its unscripted competitions to the top of the heap.
For the night, FOX averaged a 4.8 rating/8 share, beating CBS, 4.5/8, for the top spot. NBC came in third with a 3.3/6. ABC, 3.0/5, finished fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.0/2.
FOX was the only network to break 2.0 in the adults 18-49 demographic, finishing with a 2.4 rating. NBC took second with a 1.9, followed by CBS at 1.7. ABC averaged 1.1 and The CW 0.5.
CBS' "Million Dollar Password" (4.6/9) led in households at 8 p.m. but "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" (4.3/8) brought more total viewers to FOX. "Last Comic Standing" drew a 3.2/6 for NBC to finish third. An "Ugly Betty" rerun on ABC was fourth. "Smallville" earned a 1.1/2 for The CW.
"So You Think You Can Dance" scored the night's best rating, 5.2/9, for FOX at 9 p.m. A "CSI" rerun on CBS delivered a 4.9/8. "Last Comic Standing" ticked up to 3.6/6 on NBC, while a "Grey's Anatomy" repeat on ABC managed only a 2.5/4. The CW held steady with "Supernatural."
The premiere of "Hopkins," 4.1/7, gave ABC the lead at 10 p.m. CBS' "Swingtown" was close behind at 3.9/7, and "Fear Itself" scored a 3.0/5 for NBC.
