FOX and CBS waged a fairly close battle for ratings supremacy Wednesday, with FOX dancing its way into the winners circle.
For the night, FOX averaged a 5.0 rating/9 share, edging CBS' 4.9/9. (The margin in total viewers was somewhat wider, with FOX drawing 8.1 million to CBS' 7.17 million). NBC came in third with a 4.2/7. ABC's 3.6/6 was good for fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.2/2.
FOX also led among adults 18-49 with a 3.0 rating. NBC finished second in the key ad demographic with a 2.1, followed by ABC at 1.7. CBS averaged 1.5 and The CW 0.7.
"So You Think You Can Dance" put FOX on top at 8 p.m. with a 4.8/8. "Deal or No Deal" earned a 4.4/8 for NBC. "The Price Is Right," 4.1/8, finished third for CBS, beating "Wife Swap," 3.2/6, on ABC. The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" rerun.
"So You Think You Can Dance" improved to 5.3/9 at 9 p.m., tying CBS' "Criminal Minds" rerun in households and keeping the lead in total viewers. The premiere of "The Baby Borrowers" on NBC scored a respectable 4.9/8. "Supernanny" kept ABC in fourth. The finale of "Farmer Wants a Wife" drew a 1.6/3 for The CW.
CBS moved to the front at 10 p.m. with "CSI: NY," 5.2/9. "Primetime: Crime" posted a 4.7/8 for ABC, topping "Celebrity Circus," 3.5/6, on NBC.
