Originals outpace repeats, 'Swingtown' on CBS

Even for summer, Thursday's ratings were a little bit soft. FOX rode a full night of original programming to a victory.
FOX averaged a 5.2 rating/9 share in primetime to score a comfortable win over second-place CBS, 4.1/7. NBC took third with a 3.0/5. ABC's 2.4/4 was good enough for fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.4/3.
The adults 18-49 crown also went to FOX, which drew a 2.5 rating in the demographic. CBS came in second with a 1.8, edging NBC's 1.7. ABC averaged 1.0 and The CW 0.7.
"Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?," 5.1/10, put FOX on top at 8 p.m. A pair of "How I Met Your Mother" repeats averaged 2.9/5 for CBS. "The Office," 2.5/5, and "Last Comic Standing," 2.4/4, finished third for NBC, just ahead of an "Ugly Betty" rerun on ABC. "Smallville" drew a 1.5/3 for The CW.
FOX held the lead at 9 p.m. with "So You Think You Can Dance," 5.3/9. CBS improved to 5.1/9 with "CSI." "Last Comic Standing" scored a 3.3/5 for NBC. A "Grey's Anatomy" rerun on ABC earned a 2.4/4, while The CW aired a "Supernatural" repeat.
At 10 p.m., CBS' "Swingtown" led a lightly viewed hour with a 4.3/8. "Fear Itself," 3.1/6, kept NBC ahead of ABC and more "Grey's Anatomy," 2.5/5.

MyNetworkTV surpassed The CW last night in viewers with its "Texas Rangers" broadcast premiere. This is the second time this week that MyNetworkTV has beaten The CW in viewership (and the two networks have been tied twice in the A18-49 demo, on Monday and Tuesday).
After four nights, it's neck and neck for fifth place in viewers amongst the English-language broadcast networks:
5th. The CW 1.470 million viewers
6th. MyNetworkTV 1.403 million viewers
