NBA Finals trumps U.S. Open in ratings

The Los Angeles Lakers kept their season going Sunday, and that in turn helped ABC hold off NBC for the top spot in the night's ratings.
ABC averaged a 6.3 rating/11 share in primetime, beating out NBC's 5.6/10 (both networks had live sports for the night, so their numbers will likely change some). CBS, 4.5/8, finished third. FOX took fourth with a 2.2/4, and The CW trailed with a meager 0.6/1.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC's 4.3 rating led the way. NBC, 2.9, finished second. FOX, 1.6, came in third, followed by CBS, 1.1, and The CW, 0.4.
NBC's coverage of the U.S. Open golf tournament scored a 7.9/16 at 7 p.m. CBS finished second with "60 Minutes," 5.0/10. A repeat of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" put ABC in third with a 4.2/9. "Don't Forget the Lyrics" was fourth for FOX, beating a "One Tree Hill" rerun on The CW.
The U.S. Open increased to 9.0/17, the night's best hourly rating, at 8 p.m. "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 4.6/9, and the NBA pre-game show, 5.5/10, moved ABC ahead of CBS and the Tony Awards, 4.2/8. Repeats of "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" averaged 2.1/4 for FOX. The CW went with reruns of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Game."
ABC took over at 9 p.m. with Game 5 of the NBA finals, which earned a 7.8/13. The Tony Awards posted a 4.7/8 on CBS. NBC tumbled to 3.1/5 with "Saturday Night Live: The Best of Mike Myers." FOX ended its night with "Family Guy," 3.0/5, and "American Dad," 2.8/5. A second episode of "The Game" and "Girlfriends" aired on The CW.
At 10 p.m., the Lakers-Boston Celtics game scored an 8.1/14 for ABC. The Tonys concluded with a 4.1/7 on CBS, and the "SNL" special on NBC came in at 2.6/4.
Weekend ratings: CBS' rerun lineup led Friday's race with a 3.8/7, while NBC's coverage of the U.S. Open golf tournament (4.1/8) grabbed the top spot Saturday.
