Fast National ratings for Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007

The December doldrums hit the ratings pretty hard Thursday, but CBS came through relatively unscathed thanks to its crime dramas.

CBS averaged a 6.7 rating/12 share for the night, winning the Nielsen race by a pretty wide margin. ABC finished second in households at 3.7/6, while FOX, 3.3/6, had more total viewers (6.18 million to ABC's 5.08 million). NBC managed only a scant 2.6/4, and The CW trailed at 1.1/2.

The adults 18-49 title also went to CBS, which drew a 2.4 rating in the demographic. FOX, 2.1, finished second. ABC and NBC tied at 1.6, and The CW brought up the rear with a 0.6.

Gary Dourdan on "CSI"

A "CSI: NY" repeat, 6.0/11, put CBS on top at 8 p.m. FOX's showing of the movie "Ice Age" earned a 3.3/6, tying ABC's "Ugly Betty" in households and topping it in viewers. NBC averaged 3.1/6 with reruns of "My Name Is Earl" and "30 Rock." The CW went with a "Smallville" encore (1.6/2).

CBS stayed on top at 9 p.m. with "CSI," 7.0/12. "Grey's Anatomy" posted a 4.3/7 for ABC, although "Ice Age" (3.4/6) still brought in more viewers for FOX. Reruns of "The Office," 2.6/4, and "Scrubs," 2.2/4, kept NBC in front of The CW, which broadcast the Family Television Awards (0.9/1).

At 10 p.m., "Without a Trace" earned a 6.9/12 for CBS, dominating the hour. ABC's "Private Practice" rerun came in second at 3.5/6, a point better than "ER" on NBC.

--------------

Smallville registered 2.15 million viewers and its a rerun but the Family TV Awards sucked. The CW has more to do to achieve and be called as one of the 'Big 4' and be the 'BIG 5'
