NBC's "American Gladiators" held up reasonably well in its regular timeslot Monday, but the night belonged to FOX and the LSU Tigers.
College football's BCS title game gave FOX a 13.5 rating/20 share in primetime, down a good amount from last year's game (16.0/24) but still dominant for the night. NBC was a distant second at 6.4/10. ABC finished third at 6.1/9, while CBS, 5.5/8, came in fourth. The CW drew a 1.2/2.
FOX also led among adults 18-49 with a 7.6 rating. NBC, 3.9, snagged second place, followed by CBS, 2.7, and ABC, 2.6. The CW couldn't crack the 1.0 mark.
The championship game between LSU and Ohio State earned a 13.2/20 for FOX at 8 p.m. The premiere of ABC's "Dance War" scored a 7.6/11. "American Gladiators," 6.2/9, put NBC in third overall but was second in the 18-49 demo. CBS took fourth with repeats of "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory." Reruns of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Aliens in America" averaged 1.3/2 for The CW.
FOX's football coverage improved to 14.5/21 at 9 p.m. "Dance War" dipped slightly to 7.3/11, holding off the 6.6/10 for "Deal or No Deal" on NBC. CBS stayed in fourth with "Two and a Half Men," 7.3/11, and "Rules of Engagement," 5.2/8. The CW went with reruns of "Girlfriends" and "The Game."
At 10 p.m., LSU's victory over Ohio State scored a 12.8/21. The season premiere of "Medium" on NBC earned a 6.4/11, edging a "CSI: Miami" rerun, 6.3/10, on CBS. ABC's "October Road" trailed with a 3.5/6.
