Fast National ratings for Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008
The final new episode of "Without a Trace" and a solid rerun performance from "CSI" carried CBS to an overall ratings win Thursday.
CBS scored an 8.0 rating/13 share in primetime, beating FOX, 6.1/10, for the top spot. NBC finished third at 5.1/8. ABC's 5.0/8 was right behind in fourth, and The CW brought up the rear with a 1.7/3.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 3.5 rating led the way, narrowly beating NBC's 3.2. CBS finished third in the advertisers' favorite demo at 2.9. ABC averaged 2.5 and The CW 1.0.
FOX topped the 8 p.m. hour with "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?," 7.0/11. A new "Ugly Betty" put ABC in second with a 6.4/10. CBS aired a "Without a Trace" rerun to take third, while repeats of "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" averaged 3.4/5 for NBC. The CW got a 1.8/3 from "Smallville."
A "CSI" rerun, 9.1/14, moved CBS to the front at 9 p.m. NBC snagged second with "The Celebrity Apprentice," 5.9/9. FOX's "Don't Forget the Lyrics," 5.2/8, tied a "Grey's Anatomy" rerun for third in households and beat the ABC show in total viewers. A "Supernatural" repeat on The CW fell slightly from its lead-in (1.6/2).
At 10 p.m., "Without a Trace" posted an 8.8/15 for CBS. "ER," 5.9/10, finished second for NBC, a good distance ahead of the 3.5/6 for "Big Shots" on ABC.
