FOX, NBC and CBS waged a very tight race for the ratings crown Thursday, with FOX and NBC finishing the night virtually tied for first place.
CBS and NBC tied for the lead among households with a 7.2 rating/11 share, edging FOX's 7.0/11. In total viewers, the count was FOX, 11.33 million; NBC, 11.3 million; and CBS, 10.88 million. ABC came in fourth with a 3.9/6, and The CW trailed with a 1.5/2.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX and NBC each posted a 4.0 rating. CBS finished third at 2.6, followed by ABC, 1.8, and The CW, 0.9.
Donald Trump of NBC's 'Celebrity Apprentice'
NBC got an 8.2/13 from "Deal or No Deal" to win the 8 p.m. hour. FOX's coverage of the Orange Bowl earned a 6.8/11 for second, while CBS took third with a repeat of "Without a Trace." An "Ugly Betty" rerun on ABC drew a 3.7/6, topping the 1.5/2 for "Smallville" on The CW.
"CSI," 8.6/13, moved CBS to the lead at 9 p.m. The Orange Bowl ticked up to 7.0/11 on FOX, tying for second with the premiere of "The Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC (FOX had a few more viewers for the hour, while NBC led in the 18-49 demo). A "Grey's Anatomy" repeat, 4.4/7, kept ABC in fourth. The CW held steady with "Supernatural."
A second "Without a Trace" (7.3/12) led in households for CBS at 10 p.m., although the Orange Bowl, 7.1/12, had more viewers. "ER" posted a 6.4/10 for NBC to finish well ahead of a "Desperate Housewives" repeat on ABC.
