NBC Wins Friday Light Night's Skirmish
Network took the ratings and 18-49 demo for the night
Fast National ratings for Friday, June 6, 2008.
With the summer doldrums comes a half-hearted tug-o'-war for ratings between two networks. Despite CBS' usual mastery, NBC shimmied by for the top spot Friday.
NBC pulled in an overall 4.1 rating/8 share for the night, just ahead of CBS' 4.0/8. ABC was a little ways back with a 2.8/5, followed by The CW's 2.3/5 and FOX's 2.1/4.
NBC also took the 18-49 demographic battle with a 1.5 rating, while CBS kept up with a 1.4. A three-way tie for last place occurred when the remaining networks garnered a 1.3 apiece.
CBS started out ahead at 8 p.m. with its repeat of "Ghost Whisperer" earning a 3.7/8. NBC's two "Most Outrageous TV Moments" averaged a 3.0/6 for second, with ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" nipping on its heels with a 2.8/6. The CW's "WWE Friday Night SmackDown," 2.2/4, came in fourth, leaving FOX to bring up the rear with the first hour of the Wayans Brothers comedy "White Chicks," 2.0/4.
NBC yanked the lead in the 9 o'clock hour with "Dateline NBC" scoring a whopping (for summer!) 4.9/9, well ahead of CBS' second "Ghost Whisperer's" 3.9/8. The CW's "SmackDown" sneaked up to third with a 2.4/5, while ABC and FOX duked it out for last place with two "According to Jim" episodes and the second half of "White Chicks," respectively earning identical low ratings.
With a 4.5/9, CBS' "Numb3rs" moved into the lead in the 10 p.m. hour. NBC's "Dateline" was down to second with a 4.2/8. ABC's "20/20" had a 3.5/7 for the hour.
