FOX scores across-the-board win; Stanley Cup solid for NBC
Fast National ratings for Wednesday, June 4, 2008
The clinching game of the Stanley Cup Finals brought decent ratings to NBC Wednesday, but FOX danced away with a nightly win.
FOX averaged a 5.9 rating/10 share in primetime, edging CBS, 5.5/9, for the top spot. NBC finished third at 4.2/7; that figure may change some because of the live hockey telecast. ABC, 3.8/6, took fourth, and The CW came in at 1.1/2.
The adults 18-49 trophy also went to FOX, which earned a 3.5 rating in the key demographic. NBC finished second with a 3.0. ABC and CBS tied for third at 1.7. The CW fell below the 1.0 mark.
"So You Think You Can Dance" scored a 5.6/10 for FOX at 8 p.m. CBS grabbed second with "The Price Is Right," 4.6/8. NBC's coverage of the Stanley Cup Finals drew a 3.7/7, topping a "Wife Swap" rerun, 3.6/6, on ABC. The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" repeat.
FOX held the lead at 9 p.m. as "So You Think You Can Dance" improved to 6.2/10. "Criminal Minds" kept CBS in second. The Detroit Red Wings- Pittsburgh Penguins game (4.2/7) tied ABC's "Supernanny" in households, but NBC had more viewers. "Farmer Wants a Wife" delivered a 1.3/2 for The CW.
At 10 p.m., a "CSI: NY" repeat, 6.2/11, put CBS on top. NBC's hockey coverage improved to 4.7/8, a huge improvement over last year's deciding game. "Men in Trees" drew a 3.7/6 for ABC.
