CW Courts Daytime Block
Wayans brothers, Jamie Foxx and Judge Jeanine Pirro join the network
The CW is turning its eyes to its daytime programming with an afternoon block featuring a court series and two comedies.
The Network is teaming up with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution to add the court series "Judge Jeanine Pirro" and a one-hour comedy block of "The Wayans Bros." and "The Jamie Foxx Show." The new afternoon block will run from 3-5 p.m. each weekday, beginning Monday, Sept. 22.
"This lineup was created to better serve the programming mix of our stations with first-run and off-network programming that will increase ratings, revenue and flow," says the CW's COO John Maatta.
"We are excited to be in business with The CW on 'Judge Jeanine Pirro.' Jeanine has the unique breakout qualities that all great judges of court shows possess. Although some think the genre is overcrowded, we believe viewers will flock to Jeanine, who is a fresh face with a distinctive voice," adds Ken Werner, president of WBDTD. "'The Wayans Bros.' and 'The Jamie Foxx Show' represent two series with which the audience of the CW stations is familiar and star performers who are now superstars. We hope that their performance in syndication will follow that of Will Smith's sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' which has been a consistently good performer well into its fourth cycle."
Pirro has had more than 30 years of experience in the legal system, is an acclaimed author and in-demand legal analyst. She was elected Westchester County's first female County Court judge in 1990, became Westchester's first female District Attorney three years later and was recently the Republican candidate for New York State Attorney General.
