ABC Holds Off Sunday Foes
Three-way tie for 18-49 crown
Eva Longoria on 'Desperate Housewives'
Fast National ratings for Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 (USA)
ABC grabbed the biggest piece of the ratings cake Sunday, but there was a logjam in the race for supremacy among adults 18-49.
The Alphabet earned an 8.4 rating/13 share for the night to grab the top spot. NBC, 7.9/12, came in second, beating out CBS' 7.7/12. FOX came in fourth with a 6.5/10. The CW was on, but no one really noticed, as it pulled in a miniscule 0.9/1.
ABC, FOX and NBC all averaged a 4.9 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic (all three also had live sports for at least part of primetime, so their numbers may change a bit). CBS was off the pace at 2.8, and The CW managed only a 0.5.
CBS led in households at 7 p.m. with "60 Minutes," 8.6/14. FOX, however, brought in more viewers with late-ending NFL games, 11.1/18, and "The OT," 5.9/10. "Football Night in America," 4.7/8, put NBC in third. NASCAR coverage and "America's Funniest Home Videos" averaged 3.9/6 for ABC. The CW went with "CW Now" and an "Aliens in America" rerun.
[My Comment: CW Now, The CW Network's news magazine program breaks the million (1.08 million viewers) barrier better than those past weeks which the show itself registered a mere 500,000-800,000 viewers.]
"Sunday Night Football" scored a 9.0/15 for NBC at 8 p.m. ABC was second in households but first in viewers with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 8.9/14. "The Amazing Race" was third for CBS. FOX dropped to fourth with "The Simpsons," 6.2/10, and "King of the Hill," 4.7/7. "Life Is Wild" earned a 1.0/2 for The CW.
[My Comment: Life Is Wild continues to improve but still, 7th Heaven (cancelled, HH: 2.6/4, A18-49: 1.4; Nov. 12, 2006), the show that was airing at the same period of time from last year, obviously did well.]
ABC took over at 9 p.m. with "Desperate Housewives," the night's top show at 12.0/18. "Sunday Night Football," 9.2/14, finished second for NBC. CBS held onto third with "Cold Case," 8.2/12, while FOX averaged 5.5/8 with "Family Guy" and "American Dad." The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" repeat.
At 10 p.m., NBC's NFL coverage averaged 8.7/14, tying ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" in households and leading in viewers and adults 18-49. CBS got a 7.6/13 from "Shark."
