CBS used its veteran crime dramas to score a solid overall ratings win, though ABC nearly snagged the top spot in the adults 18-49 demographic.
The Eye averaged a 7.9 rating/13 share in primetime, beating ABC's 6.5/10 for the top spot. FOX's 4.5/7 was good for third. NBC, 4.1/7, came in fourth, and The CW trailed with a 2.7/4.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS led with a 3.5 rating, barely beating ABC's 3.4. FOX took third with a 2.9, followed by NBC, 2.3, and The CW 2.0.
ABC's "Pushing Daisies" led a soft 8 p.m. hour with a 5.8/9. CBS' "Kid Nation," 4.7/8, edged FOX's "Back to You," 4.6/8, and "'Til Death," 4.6/7, for second. "Phenomenon" came in fourth for NBC, while "America's Next Top Model" delivered a 3.4/6 for The CW.
[Additional Info by me from my source: America’s Next Top Model on The CW (Viewers: #5, 5.34 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.6/ 7). Compared to the year-ago telecast, Top Model was up by 630,000 viewers (4.71 to 5.34) and 18 percent among adults 18-49 (2.2/ 6 to 2.6/7). And that makes it a winner in Mr. TV’s book.]
"Criminal Minds" scored a 10.1/16 -- the night's best rating -- for CBS at 9 p.m. "Private Practice" put ABC in second with a 7.9/12. FOX stayed in third with "Kitchen Nightmares," which beat the slumping "Bionic Woman," 4.0/7, on NBC. "Gossip Girl" earned a 1.9/3 for The CW, a slight improvement over its usual performance.
[Additional info for the hour: ABC's Private Practice (Viewers: #2, 11.45 million; A18-49: #2, 4.2/10)]
