Predictably, the first live "American Idol" of the season blew away everything else on TV Tuesday night.
FOX averaged a 16.4 rating/25 share in primetime, tripling the household rating for second-place NBC, 5.4/9. CBS finished third at 4.9/8. ABC drew a 3.6/6 to take fourth, and The CW came in at 1.7/3.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 11.2 rating beat the combined total of the other four networks. NBC was the best of the rest at 3.3. CBS, 2.0, took third, followed by ABC, 1.5, and The CW, 1.0.
The performances of the top 12 men on "American Idol" scored a 15.7/25 for FOX at 8 p.m. An "NCIS" rerun on CBS delivered a 7.1/11 for second, topping the 4.5/7 for "The Biggest Loser" on NBC. An hour of "Just for Laughs" put ABC in fourth. The CW got a 1.3/2 from a repeat of "Reaper."
"American Idol" improved to 17.1/25 at 9 p.m. NBC moved up to second at "The Biggest Loser" earned a 5.7/9. "Big Brother: Til Death Do You Part" came in third for CBS. "According to Jim" and "Carpoolers" averaged 2.8/5 for ABC, while "One Tree Hill" drew a 2.1/3 for The CW.
At 10 p.m., a "Law & Order: SVU" rerun posted a 6.2/11 for NBC to win the hour. ABC's "Boston Legal," 4.9/9, beat out CBS' "Jericho," 3.9/7, for second.
