Another Tuesday, another big ratings win for FOX and "American Idol," which once again beat back all comers.
FOX averaged a 13.9 rating/21 share in primetime, nearly tripling the household rating for No. 2 CBS, 5.3/8. NBC came in third at 4.3/7. ABC's 3.7/6 was good for fourth, while The CW trailed with a 1.7/3.
FOX similarly dominated the adults 18-49 demographic with a 9.4 rating. CBS finished a distant second at 2.6. NBC, 2.3, was third, followed by ABC, 1.8, and The CW, 1.1.
Performances by the top 10 men on "American Idol" drew a 15.8/24 for FOX at 8 p.m. An "NCIS" rerun, 7.3/11, put CBS in second. "The Biggest Loser" delivered a 4.5/7 for NBC, topping the 3.1/5 for "Just for Laughs" on ABC. The CW aired a "Reaper" encore.
The conclusion of "American Idol," 16.5/24, and the return of "Back to You," 7.5/11, kept FOX in the lead at 9 p.m. "The Biggest Loser" improved to 5.7/8, moving NBC into second place. CBS got a 4.4/7 from "Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part." ABC stayed in fourth with "According to Jim" and "Carpoolers," and "One Tree Hill" earned a 2.1/3 for The CW.
ABC grabbed the lead at 10 p.m. with "Primetime: What Would You Do?," 5.3/9. "Jericho" posted a 4.3/7 for CBS. The on-air debut of "Quarterlife" flopped, drawing only a 2.7/5 for NBC.
