CBS' broadcast of the Grammy Awards was off some from last year, but it still gave the network a decisive ratings win Sunday night.
The Eye averaged a 10.3 rating/16 share in primetime, beating second-place ABC, 7.2/11, by a sizable margin. FOX came in third with a 4.5/7. NBC, 3.4/5, took fourth, and The CW drew a meager 0.7/1.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS led with a 5.8 rating. ABC took second in the key ad demo with a 4.3, followed by FOX at 3.2. NBC averaged 2.1 and The CW 0.3.
CBS led off the night with "60 Minutes" drawing an 8.6/14 at 7 p.m. FOX's coverage of the NFL's Pro Bowl, 5.6/9, was second in households, although ABC captured more total viewers with "America's Funniest Home Videos," 5.3/9. A repeat of "American Gladiators" was fourth for NBC at 2.0/3, while The CW went with "CW Now" and an "Everybody Hates Chris" rerun.
The 50th Grammy Awards scored an 11.5/17 for CBS at 8 p.m. ABC took sole possession of second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 8.0/12. "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" averaged 3.9/6 for FOX. NBC stayed in fourth with more "American Gladiators." The CW got a 0.8/1 from a second "Chris" and an "Aliens in America" rerun.
The Grammys held the lead at 9 p.m. with an 11.1/16, but the second hour of "EM: Home Edition" was not far behind at 9.9/15. A pair of "Family Guy" reruns drew a 4.1/6 for FOX, edging the 4.0/6 for "100 Most Outrageous Moments" on NBC. The CW finished its night with reruns of "Girlfriends" and "The Game."
At 10 p.m., the Grammy telecast dipped to 9.9/16 but still won the hour handily. "Brothers & Sisters" posted a 5.8/9 for ABC but trailed NBC's "Most Outrageous Moments," 5.6/9, in total viewers.
