Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 (USA)
We're a long way from crowning this year's "American Idol," but early on, the men are outdrawing the women.
Which is not to say the women are doing poorly in the ratings: Their performances pushed FOX to a big ratings win Wednesday, as the network averaged a 13.7 rating/21 share for the night (off just a bit from Tuesday's 13.9/21). NBC finished second at 6.5/10. CBS, 4.8/7, came in third, followed by ABC at 4.3/7. The CW trailed with a 1.9/3.
FOX also dominated the adults 18-49 demographic, drawing an 8.9 rating (compared to 9.4 Tuesday). NBC was the best of the rest at 2.6, beating ABC's 2.4. CBS averaged 2.2 and The CW 1.5.
"American Idol" earned a 15.2/23 at 8 p.m., more than doubling the rating for its closest competitor, NBC's "Deal or No Deal," 6.0/9. "Big Brother" finished third in households for CBS, but ABC's "Wife Swap," 3.6/6, had a slight edge in total viewers. "America's Next Top Model" scored a 2.4/4 for The CW. ["America's Next Top Model" is below average in viewers with 3.86 million, while on the demo, the show got 2.0/5]
FOX held the lead at 9 p.m. with the conclusion of "American Idol," 16.8/25, and "Back to You," 7.6/11. NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 5.7/9, was second in households, but both a "Criminal Minds" rerun, 5.5/9, on CBS and "Supernanny," 5.2/8, on ABC had a few more viewers (though the three networks were separated by fewer than 50,000 viewers). The CW aired a repeat of "Girlicious."
At 10 p.m., "Law & Order" scored a 7.7/13 for NBC to win the hour. A "CSI: NY" repeat drew a 5.3/9 for CBS, beating the return of "Men in Trees," 4.0/7, on ABC.
