An "American Idol" clip show is still "American Idol," and that meant another ratings win for FOX on Wednesday.
FOX averaged a 12.1 rating/19 share for the night, beating second-place CBS, 6.2/10, by a wide margin. NBC finished third at 5.9/9, and ABC, 4.4/7, came in fourth. The CW was well back at 1.1/2.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 8.7 rating lapped the field. CBS, 2.7, was a distant second, followed by ABC, 2.5, and NBC, 2.3. The CW trailed with a 0.7.
"American Idol's" "Best of the Rest" audition wrapup scored a 14.6/23 for FOX at 8 p.m. A "Deal or No Deal" repeat, 5.3/8, put NBC in second. CBS took third with reruns of "Two and a Half Men" and "The Big Bang Theory," topping ABC's "Wife Swap," 4.4/7. An "America's Next Top Model" clip show delivered a 1.2/2 for The CW.
FOX stayed on top at 9 p.m. with "The Moment of Truth," 9.7/15, down a little bit from last week. CBS moved up to second with a "Criminal Minds" rerun, 6.8/10. "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" earned a 5.4/8 for NBC, edging the 5.1/8 for "Supernanny" on NBC. The CW aired a "One Tree Hill" rerun.
At 10 p.m., CBS' "CSI: NY" and NBC's "Law & Order" tied for first in households at 6.9/11, with CBS drawing a few more total viewers. ABC's "Cashmere Mafia" drew a 3.7/6.
