FOX Reigns Supreme After 11 Days of the 2008 February Sweep:
After 11 days of the February Sweep, FOX continues to reign supreme over the other networks in all key measures, with an average greater than the other five networks combined in the young adult demo (FOX 8.80 vs. 5-nets (8.46). This unprecedented lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous Super Bowl numbers in combination with the powerhouse American Idol numbers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reliable strength on every other night. In nightly wins, FOX has the most nightly wins having beaten the other networks on six out of 11 nights so far (its first Friday win was a tie with NBC). Last night, The Grammy Awards gave CBS its very first win in the A18-49 demographic.
After ten days, ABC holds a comfortable 0.3 advantage over CBS for second place in the A18-49 demo, while CBS solidly holds second place in households and viewership.
After 11 days, FOX is continuing to show triple-digit year-over-year improvement in demo and viewers, with MyNetworkTV also showing significant double-digit year-over-year upward movement (eight nights only). Of the remaining networks, ABC, NBC and The CW are all showing low double-digit year-over-year slippage while CBS (last year's Super Bowl broadcaster) is showing very large year-over-year fall-off.
Also of note: despite the WGA-strike addled line-ups of the six networks, after ten days the six networks are showing smaller-than-expected year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo and households are both down by 7% on a year-over-year basis and viewership is down by only 4% year-over-year.
