The lazy days of summer once again sapped the Friday ratings, with CBS barely edging out NBC for the lackluster victory.

The eye network captured a 3.1 rating/share in primetime, just ahead of NBC's 3.0/6 and ABC's 2.7/5. The CW came in fourth overall with a 2.6/5, with FOX trailing at 2.2/4.

The CW took the adults 18-49 demographic title to the mat with its 1.4 rating, leaving ABC and NBC tied at second with a 1.2, CBS third with 1.0 and FOX once again last with a 0.9.

CBS's "The Ghost Whisperer" once again haunted the 8 p.m. hour with a 3.4/7, just ahead of NBC's "1 vs. 100" in second at 3.1/6. "Set for Life," 2.7/6, put ABC in third, ahead of "WWE Friday Night Smackdown!," 2.4/5, on the CW. FOX pulled in a 1.9/4 for airing the Julianne Moore thriller "The Forgotten."

"Smackdown," 2.8/6 took the 9 o'clock title, while NBC followed with a 2.7/6 for its "Las Vegas" repeat. A "Jericho" rerun on CBS and the second hour of FOX's movie tied for third with a 2.3/5 apiece. ABC's "Greek" (from its sister cable station ABC Family) trailed with a 1.5/3.

At 10 p.m., ABC's "20/20" scored the night's highest rating, 3.9/8. A "Numb3rs" posted a 3.4/7 for CBS, edging a rerun of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 3.2/7, on NBC.
