ABC Tops Lackluster Sunday
'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' is night's best

Fast National ratings for Sunday, March 16, 2008 (USA)

The daylight-savings lull hit the networks in a pretty big way Sunday, with none of the broadcast nets drawing more than 10 million viewers for the night.

ABC led the way with a 5.5 rating/9 share. CBS and NBC tied for second in households at 5.2/9, with CBS holding a slight edge in total viewers (7.98 million to 7.76 million for NBC). FOX's 3.2/5 was good enough for fourth, while The CW managed only a 0.7/1.

ABC also led among adults 18-49 with a 3.2 rating. FOX came in second in the demographic with a 2.5. CBS and NBC tied for third at 2.0. The CW was a minor blip at 0.4.

CBS' "60 Minutes," 7.2/13, easily won the 7 p.m. hour. "Dateline," 4.7/8, was second in households for NBC, but "America's Funniest Home Videos," 4.2/8, pulled in more viewers for ABC. Reruns of "King of the Hill" and "American Dad" averaged 2.2/4 for FOX. The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" rerun.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" scored a 7.1/12 for ABC at 7 p.m. and, at just over 12 million viewers, was the night's most-watched show. "Dateline" improved to 6.1/10 on NBC. "Big Brother," 4.1/7, took third in households for CBS but trailed in viewers to a "Simpsons" rerun and "King of the Hill" on FOX. "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Aliens in America" averaged a meager 0.7/1 for The CW.

ABC held the lead at 9 p.m., but "Oprah's Big Give," 6.0/9, continued its ratings decline. A "Cold Case" rerun on CBS drew a 5.3/8 for second. NBC went with a "Law & Order" rerun, 4.7/7. A "Family Guy" repeat, 4.2/7, and "Unhitched," 2.9/4, kept FOX in fourth. The CW finished its night with repeats of "Girlfriends" and "The Game."

At 10 p.m., a "Law & Order: SVU" repeat, 5.3/9, led the hour for NBC. "Here Come the Newlyweds" earned a 4.6/8 for ABC, topping the 4.2/7 for "Dexter" on CBS.

On Saturday, FOX's 4.0/7 led the night. NBC took second with a 3.6/7, followed by CBS, 3.1/6, and ABC, 1.7/3.
